A Case of Levitation: The Story of Frances Naylor

Limited Edition (300) View-Master set of "A Case of Levitation: The Story of Frances Naylor" by Christopher Schneberger. View-Master set comes with 2 reels (14 images) and printed insert detailing the story. The reels are new, custom made by Fisher-Price for the artist. Each reel is signed and hand numbered.

This set was made in conjunction with an exhibition by the same name, and features the images of Frances Naylor made by her father during her amazing period of levitation. Read below for a description of the exhibition:

Frances Naylor's legs were amputated when she was only two years old due to a circulatory problem. But when she was thirteen Frances began having powerful dreams that she could walk. One morning after such a dream, she woke to find she had the ability to levitate.

Her mother was a devoutly religious woman and forbade Frances from displaying this ability outside. Her father was fascinated however, and made a number of stereo photographs of his daughter as she floated about their house.

Just as mysteriously as it began, the ability to levitate was lost about a month later, and Frances sunk into a deep depression. She was later institutionalized and died later of pneumonia. The photographs which her father made remain as the only record of this amazing occurrence.

HOLLAND IN 3-D PHOTOGRAPHY

THIS BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION of 12 View-Master reels is made up of 3-D scenes from all of the Netherlands' 12 provinces. This work was created by 3-D Book Productions especially for the Dutch Pavilion at Expo '92 in Seville, Spain. From stereo pairs taken by Harry zur Kleinsmiede, Hugo de Wijs, Jan Voerman, Wim van Keulen, Piet Borsma, and Jeroen de Wijs all over the Netherlands, Harry zur Kleinsmiede and Paul Huf selected the 84 very best for inclusion in this work.

Originally, the folder in which the reels are cased had no text information about the Netherlands; however, Duncan Woods of Cygnus Graphic has prepared a small map of the country and its provinces as well as a short text describing the areas covered by each of the 12 reels. This additional information is affixed to the protective reel covers inside the folder.

After seeing these superb views, we think you'll agree that the Netherlands is indeed one of the prettiest countries in Europe! Whether you're a serious collector of View-Master reel sets, a traveler planning a trip to Holland, or just someone who enjoys beautiful 3-D scenic photography, this work will be appreciated over and over and will be a most valuable addition to your library.

Turkey Reel SetDSCN0193.JPG (377455 bytes)

This 2 reel turkey View-Master was a promotion for "the Turkey Store" which contains a viewer and 2 reels which show various entrées that can be made with turkey meat.  The reels are a bit of a "turkey" because unlike most View-Master reels they are not 3D, but that doesn't hurt the collector or for enthusiast of good food.

Collectors will be interested to know that the viewer that comes with the set is the earlier US made Tyco version, not the currently produced View-Master viewer.  The viewer is black. More info and images.
